The airport is a public military
airport in Pinellas county Florida. It is practically nine miles north of
downtown St. Petersburg and just seven miles southeast of Clearwater. It is
categorized as a primary commercial service airport since it has practically
over 10,000 passengers boarding airplanes per year. Most of the scheduled
airline ticket traffic in the Tampa bay uses the Tampa international airport
which is practically ten miles to the east but the famous St. Petersburg Clearwater
remains a destination for low cost carrier.
